Hi my crafter, I’m back with another cute Christmas pattern! SURPRISE!

This crochet reindeer is a great gift for your child, niece, or nephew. It is also a fun project to try out yourself this holiday season.

Here is the pattern:

Stitch terms:

  • Color A: Skin 40g
  • Color B: shirt and sleaves 30g
  • Color C: boots & mittens 25g
  • Color D: Nose +/- 10g
  • Color E: Muzzle +/- 10g
  • Color F: Antlers +/- 20g
  • White fluffy yarn for the edging on the boots and gloves.
  • White cotton thread for the eyes

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner, you need to know the basic of amigurumi and working in rounds

I used double knitted/ light worsted weight cotton for this reindeer.

Head and body are one piece

HEAD:

COLOUR A: (Brown)

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

5: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

6: (4 SC, INC) x6 [36]

7: (5 SC, INC) x6 [42]

8: (6 SC, INC) x6 [48]

9: (7 SC, INC) x 6 [54]

10-16: SC in each stitch around [54] 

If using safety eyes: Place eyes between round 10/11, 6 stitches apart

Use white cotton thread to embroider a white stitch under each eye.

17: (7 SC, DEC) x 6 [48]

18: (6 SC, DEC) x6 [42]

19: (5 SC, DEC) x6 [36]

20: (4 SC, DEC) x6 [30]

21: (3 SC, DEC) x6 [24]

22: SC in each stitch around [24] – stuff head

23: (2 SC, DEC) x 6 [18]

24: SC in each stitch around [18]

(Don’t cut yarn continue with the body )

BODY:

COLOUR B: (Green)

25: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

26: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

27: (4 SC, INC) x6 [36]

28-30: SC in each stitch around [36] 

31: (5 SC, INC) x6 [42]

32-36: SC in each stitch around [42] 

COLOUR A (Brown)

37: SC in each stitch around [42]

38: (5 SC, DEC) x6 [36]

39: (4 SC, DEC) x6 [30] – start stuffing the body

40: SC in each stitch around [30]

41: (3 SC, DEC) x6 [24]

42: (2 SC, DEC) x6 [18]

43: (1 SC, DEC) x6 [12]

44: (DEC) x6 [6]

Fasten off and close the opening with the remaining yarn tail. Cross-sew the needle through each stitch and pull tight to close the opening.

SHIRT: Surface stitch with the green (Shirt colour) around the edge of round 36

ANTLERS: Four pieces in total

Main Antlers: MAKE TWO

COLOUR F: (Chestnut)

1: MC, 4 SC [4]

2: INC x4 [8]

3-12: SC in each stitch around [8] 

Stuff the Antlers (Use a tweezer to stuff them)

End off with a slip stitch, leaving a strand long enough for you to sew the antlers on top of the head.

 

Side Antlers: MAKE TWO

COLOUR F: (Chestnut)

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2-5: SC in each stitch around [6] 

Stuff the Antlers (Use a tweezer to stuff them)

End off with a slip stitch, leaving a strand long enough for you to sew the antlers on top of the head.

ASSEMBLING ANTLERS 

ANTLERS: Attach the small antlers to the side of the bigger antlers. Attach them between rounds 5/7, counting from the top of the antler.

Main antler: Attach the antlers between rounds 4/6, counting from the center of the head

EARS: (Make two)

COLOUR A: Brown

1: MC, 5sc [5]

2: SC in each stitch around [5]

3: INC x5 [10]

4-6: SC in each stitch around [10] 7: (1 SC, INC) x5 [15]

8-9: SC in each stitch around [15] 

10: (2 SC, INC) x5 [20]

11: (2 SC, DEC) x5 [15]

12: ( SC, DEC) x5 [10]

13-14: SC in each stitch around [10] 

Pinch the ear’s opening between your thumb and index finger, and slip a stitch or SC5 across the opening of the ear, closing it up. Now take the two outer corners of the ear and pinch them together, slip stitch to end off the ear. Leave a strand of yarn to attach the ear

EARS: The bottom of the ear is already folded in half with the slip stitch. You can now attach it to the head just under the antlers, between rounds 9/10, counting from the top of the head.

MUZZLE:

COLOUR E: (Beige)

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

5: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

6: (3 SC, DEC) x6 [24]

7: (2 SC, DEC) x6 [18]

Stuff the muzzle piece

Slip stitch and leave a long enough strand of yarn to attach the muzzle to the face.

 

NOSE:

COLOUR D: (Dark brown)

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3-4: SC in each stitch around [12] 

Stuff the nose.

Slip stitch, cut the strand of yarn extra long so that you can sew the nose to the top of the muzzle, but also create the split lip for the mouth and the eyebrows with the same strand.

 

MUZZLE ASSEMBLING:

Attach the nose before you assemble the muzzle to the head. Attach the muzzle one round under the eyes. Use a pin in the center of the muzzle to hold it in place when sewing.

LEGS: (starting at the shoe) MAKE TWO

COLOUR C: (Red)

1: CH 5, 2SC in the second back loop of your chain, 1 SC in the next 2 stitches, 4SC in the last back loop stitch, now working down the opposite side, 1 SC in the next two stitches, 2 SC in the last stitch [12]

2: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

3: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

4: BLO, SC in each stitch around [24]

5: SC in each stitch around [24]

6: (6 SC, DEC x 6, 6 SC) [18]

7: (3 SC, DEC x 6, 3 SC) [12]

8-10: SC in each stitch around [12] 

Stuff the shoe only

COLOUR A: (Brown)

11: SC in each stitch around [12]

12: (SC, DEC) x4 [8]

13-23: SC in each stitch around [8]

Slip stitch and leave a long enough strand to sew the leg to the side of the body. attach the leg between rounds 35/36

The Shoe edging:

Use some white fluffy yarn and surface sc around the edge of the boot where you only crocheted in the back loop (round 10)

ARMS: (Starting at the mittens) MAKE TWO

COLOUR C: (Red)

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: PUFF stitch, SC 17 [18]

5: (SC, DEC) x6 [12]

Stuff the mitten

6-7: SC in each stitch around [12]

8: (SC, DEC) x4 [8]

Stuff the mittens ONLY

COLOUR A: (Brown)

9-12: SC in each stitch around [8] 

COLOUR B: (Green)

13-22: SC in each stitch around [8] 

Slip stitch, leave a long strand of yarn to sew the arm to the side of the body, between rounds 23/24

The mittens edging:

Use some white fluffy yarn and surface SC around the edge of the mitten (round 8)

Jersey edging:

Use green COLOUR B yarn to surface stitch around the edge of the jersey. (round 13)

TAIL:

Colour B: (Brown)

1: MC, SC, DC x 5, SC x 4 [10]

2: (SC, INC) x 5 [15]

Change to white yarn

3: (2 SC, INC) x5 [20]

Slip stitch, fold the tip of the tail in, and attach

at the back just under the shirt.

SCARF:

Colour white

1: Chain 30, HDC in the third loop of the hook. HDC down the rest of the chain. [27]
