In this section, we’ll be creating the head, hair and adding the final touches that will bring our doll more to life, We’ll be placing the eyes, adding facial details, and finally, attaching the head to the body. Let’s start crocheting and make some magic happen!

It’s important to follow the pattern instructions and pay attention to the details to ensure the final product will look as expected. The head is worked in rounds and you will have no colour changes.

You will attach the head to the body, to keep the head in place while you sew it on you can use these following techniques. One is to push a long knitting needle through the top of the head down into the body to keep the head centered. Second method is to pin it in place with safety pins or the clip on stitch markers.

Part three:

HEAD:

Colour A: 

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

5: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

6: (4 SC, INC) x6 [36]

7: (5 SC, INC) x6 [42]

8: (6 SC, INC) x6 [48]

9: (7 SC, INC) x6 [54]

10-18: SC in each stitch around [54] 

Eyes: Insert safety eyes between rounds 13 & 14 with 10 visible stitches in between.

Nose: Embroider the nose between rounds 15 and 16. The nose is a couple of horizontal stitches.

Freckles: With brown yarn stitch three horizontal stiches under each eye in a triangle shape.

19: (7 SC, DEC) x6 [48]

20: (6 SC, DEC) x6 [42]

21: (5 SC, DEC) x6 [36]

22: (4 SC, DEC) x6 [30] Start stuffing the head

23: (3 SC, DEC) x6 [24]

24: (2 SC, DEC) x6 [18]

25: (SC, DEC) x6 [12] – Fully stuff the head at this point

End with a slip stitch and work away the yarn tail.

HAIR:

Tip: Make sure you have loose tension for the hair to fit over the head or switch to your 4mm hook

Colour E: 

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

5: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

6: (4 SC, INC) x6 [36]

7: (5 SC, INC) x6 [42]

8: (6 SC, INC) x6 [48]

9: (7 SC, INC) x6 [54]

10-16: SC in each stitch around [54] 

Fringe:

17: CH7, SC in the second chain from the hook, SC in the remaining 6 chains [6]

18: SC in the next stitch, CH7, and repeat round 17.

19-26: Repeat round 18 [10 strands in total for the fringe]

End with a slip stitch and leave a long strand of yarn to sew the hair onto the head. The hair cap should be attached to the head at a 45-degree angle, it should almost touch the back of the neck.

Pin the fringe to the forehead and sew it down to prevent the fringe from curling up.

BUNS: (Make two)

Colour E: 

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

5: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

6-9: SC in each stitch around [30] 

10: (3 SC, DEC) x6 [24]- Stuff the bun

11: (2 SC, DEC) x6 [18]

Change to colour F: (Canary yellow)

12: (SC, DEC) x6 [12] – Fully stuff the buns at this point

13: SC in each stitch around [12]

End with a slip stitch and leave a strand of yarn to sew the buns onto the hair.

Attachment: Sew the buns between rounds 5/10 counting from the center of the hair cap. Tip: Use stitch markers or pins to keep the buns in place.
