Britney the bunny crochet-a-long part three- Free pattern

Are you ready to put your bunny together?! In this post we will be making the last piece of the bunny and put it all together. 

Before we begin, make sure you have completed Part One of the crochet-a-long bunny and Part two. 

The feet and body is connected in one section. You will start with one leg, finish is off and then start with the second leg where you will connect the second leg and move on to the body.

Stitch terms:

  • MC: Magic Ring
  • SC: Single Crochet
  • INC: INCrease
  • DEC: DECrease
  • SLP: Slip stitch
  • CH: Chain
  • DC: Double crochet
  • TC: Trebble crochet
  • HDC: Half double crochet
  • TYW: Turn your work

 

Stitches:

DC: Yarn Over, insert your hook, pull up a loop, Yarn Over, and pull through two loops, Yarn Over, Pull through two loops.

 

TC: Yarn Over twice, insert your hook, Pull up a loop, Yarn Over, pull through two loops, Yarn Over, pull through two loops, Yarn Over, Pull through two loops.

 

HDC: Yarn Over, insert your hook, Pull up a loop, Yarn Over, and pull through all three loops on your hook.

The Pattern

NOTE: At the ankle of the feet you will be working in rows. When connecting the two legs you will work in the chain you created between them. In this chain you work in the front and back loop of the chain as you go around both legs.

LEGS AND BODY:

LEG 1:

Colour A: 

1:MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: (2 SC, INC) x6 [24]

5-6: SC in each round [24] 

7: (2 SC, DEC) x6 [18]

8-10: SC in each round [18]

11: (SC, DEC) x6 [12]

12-14: SC in each stitch around [12] 

You will now be working in rows from 15 – 17

R15: SC in next 6 stitches, CH 1 turn your work [6]

R16: SC in next 6 stitches- starting from the stitch next to your hook, CH 1 turn your work [6] 

R17: SC in the next stitch, (DEC x 2), SC in the last stitch [4]

18: SC (on the side of the flap), SC next 6 stitches (front of the paw) SC on another side flap, SC last 4 stitches on the back of the paw. [12]

Stuff the paw before you continue with the leg

19-30: SC in each stitch around [12] stuff the leg as you go. Cut the yarn and weave in the end.

LEG 2:

Colour A: 

Repeat the pattern of leg 1, DO NOT CUT THE YARN of your second

You will now be joining the two legs to start the body. Make sure the feet are facing to the front, and work clockwise around the “loose” leg to prevent your work from being inside out.

BODY:

1: From current leg chain 6, SC into leg one, SC around leg one (11), SC in each of the front loops of the chain between the legs (6) , SC around leg two (12) , SC in each of the chains on the opposite side between the legs (6)

The total count of stitches will be [36]

2: (5 SC, INC) x6 [42]

3-5: SC in each stitch around [42] 

6: (5 SC, DEC) x6 [36]

7-10: SC in each stitch around [36]

11: (4 SC, DEC) x6 [30] – stuff the body from the top of the legs

12-16: SC in each stitch around [30] 

17: (3 SC, DEC) x6 [24]

18-21: SC in each stitch around [24] 

22: SC 6, insert arm (SC 6), SC 6, insert arm two (SC 6) [24]

23: (2 SC, DEC) x6 [18]

24: (SC, DEC) x6 [12]

Fasten off leaving a strand of yarn to sew the head to the body.

 

Tip for the arms: When inserting the arms, you might have to adjust the arm placement. If the arms don’t match up on the side of the body you will have to SC around till you line up with the bunny legs.
