Crochet Christmas Mug Décor- Free Pattern

free crochet mug pattern

Welcome back to another Tuesday free pattern! Today, we are diving into our next creation for Christmas in July. Sticking to the non-animal theme, I brainstormed while enjoying my morning hot chocolate. The idea struck me to crochet a hot chocolate mug with mini marshmallows, and it turned out super cute!

I quickly crafted this adorable hot chocolate mug decor using my 4mm hook and the new velvet yarn from Kismet. It’s a freestanding pattern, so there’s no need to weigh it down as it stands sturdily on its own.

If you’re wondering if this mug can double as a Christmas ornament, making it in a 4ply/sportweight cotton would be perfect for hanging on the tree. The same goes for the little tree I created last week.

Designing this charming Christmas mug decor was a delight. I love that it can be made in a variety of colors. My daughter even requested a blue mug with green marshmallows, showcasing the endless color possibilities.

Let’s chat about the yarn. I used the new Kismet velvet yarn from The Wool Shoppe for this pattern. I’m currently collaborating with this shop, and if you use my code YARNOVER at checkout, you can enjoy a nice 5% discount. Note that this shop is based in South Africa and does not offer international shipping.

If you are not in South Africa, suitable alternatives for this yarn include Prafiat Chunky, Premier Basix Chenille, and Himalaya Dolphin Fine Chenille yarn.

As someone who sells my crochet amigurumi toys, I often get asked how to price them when selling at markets as custom orders. It can be a bit of a challenge to determine the price, but I have developed a method that I think will be helpful to you. This is a formula I have been using for a couple of years selling toys.

Selling amigurumi can be a great source of extra income as it is something that you can sell all year round and never goes out of season.
