Making my Farmlamb with Velvet yarn

I fluffed him up! Since collaborating with Bibi’s Wool Center, I had to try the Alize Velluto velvet yarn. Curious about its effect on my patterns, I chose to start with none other than the Farmlamb!

The Farmlamb was my very first pattern, written back in 2019, and remains a very popular design of mine. I can see why – he’s truly one of a kind. I often spot him in Facebook posts and such.

I followed the pattern exactly as I wrote it; the only change I made was swapping the rounds of Puff stitches with HDC stitch rounds (placing HDC in each stitch around). I made that adjustment before you can see the instructions HERE.

I will be making him again with a half-puff stitch to see what it will look like. However, it will be featured in more than just this article.

The pattern for the farm lamb can be found on:

You will need 5 skeins of the Alize velluto yarn to make this crochet sheep. You will be using 3 of the beige and 2 of the white. If you were to make the puff stitches I would recommend getting 4 skeins of the white yarn because the puff stitch is a real yarn-eater and you will go through the skeins very quickly.

I used a 4.5mm crochet hook, but if it is to tight you can go up to a 5mm but you might be ending up using more yarn then I did. For the eyes I used 18mm safety eyes.
