Welcome to our Christmas in July festivity, we are still celebrating Christmas in July and today we are making Christmas Crochet stocking. 

Whether you’re a new or familiar to the crochet craft, these projects are super fun to tackle especially if you are stuck in a the crochet slump this time of the year.

I’m excited to share my next Christmas in July Pattern. The crochet pattern for a Christmas stocking. I used the new Plush Yarn from Kismet yarn that I got from The Wool Shoppe. This plush, velvety yarn adds a touch of magical feeling and warmth to your handcrafted stocking, making it a delightful addition to your holiday decorations. Picture the joy of hanging these cute handmade stockings by the hearth, eagerly waiting to be filled with festive treats.

What you need to make this stocking:

Kismet Plush velvet yarn

  • Colour R: Red 55g 
  • Colour W: White 30g

Other tools:

  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

  • SC: Single Crochet
  • INC: INCrease
  • DEC: DECrease
  • SLP: Slip stitch
  • MC: Magic Circle
  • FO: Finish off
  • HDC: Half double crochet
  • TYW: Turn your work
  • Repeat the stitch sequence between (…..) by the amount stated next to it
  • The pattern is written in US terms
  • The amount of each stitch at the end of each round is shown in the […]
  • Working in continuous rounds with your stitch marker
  • Photos are placed in groups after each section

Colour W: (White)

1: MC, 6 SC [6]

2: INC x6 [12]

3: (SC, INC) x6 [18]

4: 1 SC (2 SC, INC) x5, 1 SC, INC [24]

5: (3 SC, INC) x6 [30]

6: 2 SC, (4 SC, INC) x5, 2 SC, INC [36]

7-8: SC in each stitch around [36]

Continue with the red yarn, CH2 at the beginning of each round does not count.

9-19: CH2, HDC in each stitch around, Slip stitch at the top of CH2 [36]

THE HEEL:

Don’t cut the red yarn, Continue with the white yarn

20: HDC in next 18sts , TYW [18]

21: CH2, HDC in the next 17sts, TYW [17]

22: CH2, HDC in the next 16sts, TYW [16]

23: CH2, HDC in the next 15sts, TYW [15]

24: CH2, HDC in the next 14sts, TYW [14]

25: CH2, HDC in the next 13sts, TYW [13]

26: CH2, HDC in the next 12sts, TYW [12]

27: CH2, HDC in the next 11sts, TYW [11]

28: CH2, HDC in the next 10sts, TYW [10]

Colour R: (Red)

29: HDC in each of the 4 skipped stitches of the heel section of the sock, HDC in the 10 stitches of the last row, and HDC in the next 4 skipped stitches going down the heel. [18]

30: HDC in the remaining 18 stitches from the stocking till you reach the heel again [36]

Note: There will be small gaps along the edge of the heel, this is normal, as this is for decor only.

31-45: CH2, HDC in each stitch around, Slip stitch at the top of CH2 [36]

Continue with the white yarn:

46-51: CH2, HDC in each stitch around, Slip stitch at the top of CH2 [36]

Slip stitch to the back of the stocking, once you have reached the center, Ch9, slip stitch back into the same stitch as the CH9 to create the little tag to hang up your Christmas stocking.

Weave in all your ends!

And you are done.
